When restoring, Mozy Pro Can take 24 hours (or more, as I sit waiting at hour 30) on a weekend (weekdays would take longer) to simply GATHER the files that you need to download before you can even start to download them. (50k files or a VERY SMALL server) This makes it worthless for Dr.s lawyers, dentist, hotels,… or anyone who needs their data restored rapidly.
Further, I have been on the phone waiting simply for someone to answer the phone for over an hour so far with no response.
Check virtually all of the comments by end users, and they well say beware of this program.
@Patrick Sorry to hear you are having problems with your restore. I had to do a large restore after a hard drive crash of roughly 20gb. I did not have any of the problems you seem to be having, but it does take a little while to download 20gb.
I would not say that Mozy is useless for Dr’s, Lawyers etc. The reality is if you need certain files you can restore them quickly, perhaps only a few folders at a time. Most people including Dr.’s don’t need access to all 20-30gb at one time. Do a small restore of the most important files to get back up and running and then do the larger restore. If you need all the data instantly then you should also be doing onsite local backups as well. Mozy online backup is not a replacement for regular local backups, it is a compliment to ensure that data can be recovered in the case of fire or or natural disaster.
